About the women's revival conference

The ECCSSE Women’s Revival Conference was held December 6th through December 9th, 2018 in Gambella, Ethiopia. This conference was one of the biggest events that the ECCSSE achieved in 2018, it was attended by over 100 women from all different congregations in the towns and refugee camps in the Gambella region. The revival conference was led by the Deacon of Women’s Ministry, Mary Nyachan Rik, who has served as the leader of women’s ministry in the ECCSSE for nearly eight years.

The theme of the conference was “Empowering ECCSSE women with eloquent leadership skills and advancing spiritual growth.” There were key speakers who presented on different topics during the conference as well. The topics which were offered were as follows:
  • The roles of the women in the bible and the essential participation of women in the discipleship ministry of Jesus Christ.
  • Family ministry and social issues which relate to marriage.
  • The contributions of women to the health and welfare of society.
  • The role of women in stewardship and Church resource management

The conference was attended by women who are members of the ECCSSE and many sisters from other denominations as well. Because of its success a second round of the Women’s Revival Conference is being planned for April 2019 this year.

adult education classes for eccsse women

Women in the ECCSSE face challenges due to a lack of education; most on them have not gotten to go to schools in South Sudan during wartime for the last several decades. Most of them do not even have the opportunity to read the bible or hymn book in their own languages. Because of this the ECCSSE is working to help them attend “adult education” classes in the churches. The members of the ECCSSE leadership in all ECCSSE conferences are willing to teach these classes on a volunteer basis, but this project still faces challenges from a lack of educational materials. The women need materials like blackboards, pens, chalk, and academic exercise books. The women who participate in these classes are in need of donors to support the program so that they can continue to learn in the adult education classes.
